Right after Dubai, Greek cuisine has found its rightful place in Monaco, too. Gaia, Monte Carlo is now open and seeking many more enthusiastic converts.
The Greek-Mediterranean restaurant, which hatched first in Dubai, is developed by Bulldozer Group and Izu Ani, a Nigerian-born and London-raised master chef, and serves authentic cuisine in a contemporary space. “To create Gaia, we truly delved into the foundations of Greek culture, and explored the elements of their cuisine and eating rituals. The most important parts are often the ones that you can’t see, like the roots of a tree or the submerged part of the iceberg. Gaia stemmed from this philosophy, a venture born of depth, history and expertise,” says chef Izu, who designed the menu together with Greek chef Oresti Kotefas.
As a result, the Gaia menu showcases the true essence of Aegean cuisine, tailored to suit today’s cosmopolitan dining scene. Its dishes are of a divine simplicity, including the bread and olive oil –in fact, chef Izu is passionate about olives and grows his own!
Filled with traditional artefacts, Gaia Monte-Carlo offers a glimpse of Greece within the heart of Monaco. True to the Gaia brand, the restaurant is also home to an exclusive Chef’s Table, which creates an intimate experience between the chef and diners.
And not only that. The Bulldozer Group designed Gaia with international expansion in mind, as, according to executives, they wanted to create a concept that could showcase the quality of the F&B industry in Dubai and transport this to popular regions around the world. Therefore, after Monte Carlo, there are plans to open Gaia in London, Moscow and Miami before 2021.
