Greek rice travels to Lebanon, Jordan and the UAE

On December 3rd 2020 at Mövenpick Hotel Beirut, a press event followed by a tasting dinner was held for the promotion of “European Rice” in the Lebanese market. Despite these difficult circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was a great success with hosted guests from the Lebanese food sector, the F&B wholesale industry, as well as the media.
Starting the event, the Greek Counselor of Commercial and Economic Affairs in Lebanon Mr Iakovos Kollaros addressed a short greeting and consequently via live connection from Greece, Mr Konstantinos Giannopoulos, General Manager of EASTH SA, presented details about the European promotional program and key points about Greek rice production.
In addition to all those compelling speeches, a live cooking show plus a tasting dinner summed-up the action of the night. The gifted Food Ambassador of European Rice in Lebanon, chef Sara Assi, gave the audience an excellent presentation on the benefits of European rice produced in Greece together with many useful tips for the most delicious rice cooking.

A comprehensive program

The event is part of the European program entitled Information provision and promotion measures on rice in Jordan, Lebanon and the UAE with the distinctive title “European Rice – Rice to the top!” that aims to spread awareness among general public, but also professionals such as food experts, distributors and wholesalers about the authenticity and unique production of the European rice as well as to enhance the competitiveness of the European rice produced in Greece, in particular.
