Ino Gastrobar in London

The people behind Athens based two Michelin-starred restaurant Funky Gourmet and Opso restaurant in Marylebone, London, Andreas Labridis, Nikos Roussos and Georgianna Hiliadaki, have a new venture on the works. Ino, from the Greek word for wine “oinos”, is located on Newburgh Street, is set across two levels and houses a 13-seat bar stretching around an open kitchen with a grill and rotisserie and an intimate dining room.
This time, the focus is on charcoal-scorched cooking and centered around the traditions of the Greek “Psistaria” aka grill, with a range of small plates designed for sharing. The feel is somewhat informal, yet the cooking is still the elevated cuisine we’ve come to expect from the Greek trio.

The menu features dishes such as charcoaled prime short rib chops, house-cured mackerel and lamb sweetbreads skewers, catch of the day carpaccio and sardines sashimi, fish “cheeks” with tomato and parsley salsa, “Secreto” souvlaki with Iberico pork, as well as a box with delectable desserts to choose from.
The wine list almost solely consists of exciting Greek varieties and wines and will be changing regularly, whereas alongside these are draft beers from boutique micro-breweries and barrel-aged cocktails.
Ino Gastrobar is replacing what used to be Opso’s “little brother” souvlaki place, PitaBun, but with a different feel and more creative dishes. The official opening will take place on May 24.
