Taking advantage of a recent three-month suspension of tariffs on European Union products, the Kalavryta Agricultural Cooperative stepped into the competitive US Market. Its Feta PDO, widely known and popular among Greek consumers, has officially started its journey across the Atlantic Ocean.
The Cooperative, which represents around 1,200 producers, is one of the leading producers of sheep milk Feta in Greece, with an annual output of 5,000 tons. Apart from the domestic market, there has been a strategic decision for expansion into several countries, with the USA being one of the first significant steps.
Acknowledging the fact that every successful initiative requires a carefully designed plan, the Kalavryta Agricultural Cooperative aims to form long-lasting relationships with partners and representatives abroad.
Along with US Market, the Cooperative has already exported batches of Feta to France and Germany, while agreements with England, Poland, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Serbia and North Macedonia are on the way.
Despite the challenges, such as high production costs and the impact of climate change, the Cooperative’s leadership remains optimistic about the future of Greek agricultural production.
