The wine routes and the visiting wineries of Central Macedonia were presented at a special event organized by the Region of Central Macedonia in collaboration with the “Wine Routes of Northern Greece”, the Greek Tourism Organization office in France and Aegean Airways on Monday, November 21, at the famous, award-winning restaurant “Le Mavrommatis” in Paris.
The event, which was attended by representatives from the largest wineries in Central Macedonia, was addressed to a select audience of journalists and travel agents. Journalists, bloggers, tourism professionals specializing in wine tourism and gastronomy responded to the call by the Region of Central Macedonia. During the event, representatives from the participating wineries, presented their wines, their facilities as well as their activities, hosted wine tastings and, then, held B2B meetings with professionals. The wine tasting was accompanied by a menu, specially-created for the occasion by “Le Mavrommatis” restaurant.
The event was supported by Aegean Airways with which the Region of Central Macedonia has been continuously cooperating for the last three years. In fact, this joint effort for the promotion of Greek wine tourism in Central Macedonia led to the production of a video which was shown during the Paris event. The video is focused on the wine routes of Central Macedonia, the local wines, as well as the visiting wineries in the region.
“Achieving synergies, such as the one with AEGEAN, a major airline, is one of the key pillars of our strategy for integrated promotion of our thematic tourism products, such as wine tourism. Central Macedonia has remarkable wineries, which can offer authentic travel experiences combined with alternative activities offered by the unique natural surroundings around the wineries,” stated Mr Alexandros Thanos, Deputy Regional Governor for Tourism & Culture of the Region of Central Macedonia.
