American Farm School Mediterra Cooperation

The design and implementation of a series of interventions and investments in the primary and secondary sector on the island of Chios, are at the heart of the multiannual Memorandum of Cooperation signed by the American Farm School and the subsidiary of the Chios Mastiha Growers Association, “Mediterra SA”. Its goals are the utilization of natural resources and the exploitation of inactive agricultural areas of the island together with the undeniable know-how and experience of the executives of the American Farm School.

The Memorandum of Cooperation includes, inter alia, the organization of a pilot mastic farm project, the development of lands owned by the Old Agricultural School of Chios, the development of new products, the installation of a breeding unit for the world-famous sheep of Chios, as well as cooperation between the School and Mediterra SA in research projects and educational programs.

The two parties express their intention for this cooperation to become a breeding ground for the strengthening of the agri-food sector on the island, bringing new ideas and practices.
