One could say that the last decade has been (and still is) a great momentum for Greek microbrewery, and they would be right. The Greeks love beer, and crafting it meets a tradition long lost in Greek history and mythology -yes, Greeks have been producing more than wine since forever.
In this context, microbreweries emerge all over Greece, taking advantage of the great water this land is blessed with, and producing truly great beer. Laconian Brewery is one of them.
Laconian Brewery, located in Laconia (Peloponese Region, Southern Greece), began its ventures in 2016, by Yiannis Papathanasiou, with 3 distinctive products: the Premium Lager, the American Pale Ale and the Indian Pale Ale. Dark Lager is the latest addition.
Dark Lager was released in June 2024. It is a dark coloured beer with roasted malts, with a 5.5% alcohol content. Its taste is mildly bitter, with chocolate notes and a great coffee aftertaste.
All raw materials used are Greek, and the crystal clear water -the key ingredient for an excellent beer- springs directly from Taygetos Mountain. Currently, the product is distributed in Greece and is expected to start exporting within the coming year.
