The organization “New Agriculture New Generation” is extending the implementation of the free program “Stevia: A Sustainable and Regenerative Transition” to the regional units of Rhodope and Xanthi. The program is implemented in collaboration with the Stevia Hellas cooperative and is backed by the founding support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
Following the increased interest observed in the regional units of Phthiotis and Boeotia, this time around, 20 young producers from the northern region of Thrace, who wish to start cultivation stevia, will have the opportunity to receive guidance and training in the application of sustainable techniques and organic farming methods.
Τhe main objective of the program is to motivate young people of the region to become actively involved in the agricultural sector and especially in the cultivation of stevia, thus unlocking opportunities in organic and regenerative agriculture.
The program will last for 172 hours during the course of 12 months, of which 60 hours will be implemented through distance learning and 112 hours will involve practical training and on-farm counselling as well as on-site visits to pilot agri-food businesses and farms. During the training, participants will improve their understanding in organic and regenerative farming practices, best cultivation practices for stevia, hygiene, safety and food quality, innovative processing technologies, marketing principles and sales techniques, etc.
