Duane Morris’ Cannabis Group has partnered with the Consulate General of Greece’s New York Trade Office and Enterprise Greece to present on May 20, 2021 the “Cannabis Investment: How Greece Is Embracing the Opportunity and Leading the EU Market” webinar.
Greece is a relative newcomer to hemp cultivation for medicinal purposes. However, the country is gradually emerging as a key European player, mainly due to its recent innovative regulation. The Greek government pays particular attention to streamlining procedures, introducing new provisions for the export, distribution and circulation of the final Cannabis sativa L. with more than 0.2% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
The webinar sought to provide an update on the latest developments and trends regarding cannabis in Greece, as well as answer questions such as Greece’s potential for pharmaceutical cannabis projects, the role of geography and how can Greece become a regional hub for producing and exporting final products, and how can the country support new investments.
A comprehensive view of the Greek reality
Attendees had the opportunity to hear from Viridian Capital Advisors, KAYA Holdings, TIKUN and other renowned companies already active in the filed.
Namely, Mr Scott Greiper, President at Viridian Capital Advisors, presented an overview of the state of cannabis in Europe and illustrated the potential for expansion, while Mr Elias Eliades, Director of Investment Promotion & Facilitation at Enterprise Greece, talked about the main topic of the webinar: How Greece is embracing the opportunity and leading the EU market, by highlighting the latest legislation efforts in the country and offer a thorough look at the cannabis industry in the country and its poetential.
Kaya Holdings Chairman and CEO, Mr Craig Frank, shared with participants the advantages that led his company to commit to developing a cannabis cultivation and processing facility in Greece. In addition, Mr Panos Kininis Manager at Greek Kannabis, Kaya Holdings’ partner in the country, shared his experiences and discussed how Greece could become the cannabis production center of the EU. Both executives pointed out that the Kaya Kannabis Greece Facility will be configured to produce more than 85 tons of GMP certified, poremium, medical-grade cannabis annually for potential export to the EU and elsewhere.
Finally, Mr Nikos Beis, CEO & Vice President of the Board at Tikun presented the Tikun Europe case study. Tikun Europe is a subsidiary of Israel’s Tikun Olam, one of the leading companies in the pharmaceutical cannabis sector, and has invested in a 56,000 sq.m. production site in Corinth for the production and processing of medical cannabis.
