Cereal and seed bars are a huge trend worldwide in the last few years, and with a good reason: they are a healthy alternative to fast food, satiate and cover the consumers’ hunger feeling for longer, while giving “good” calories (high in nutritional value). And all this, while being easy to take along, and having a great shelf life retail-wise.
This month, a new Greek company, Φ-Choice, founded in 2017 in Agios Stefanos, Athens, is preparing to enter the shelves of the Sklavenitis chain, the biggest retail chain in Greece, with the product Sesamis Natural Bars. The company’s natural handmade sesame and nut bars are already available in other big chains (AB Vassilopoulos, My market, Galaxias).
8 different bars
Φ-Choice currently produces eight different bars, classified into four different categories: Sesame Bars, Health Bars, Sports Bars (Athletic Bars), rich in amino acids and glutamine and Luxury Nutrition Bars (Luxury Bars). All bars combine dried fruits and nuts through hand-made mixes. The natural method of preparation includes preparation in a single mixture, exclusively with the addition of honey, from a regular supplier, without the addition of sugar and preservatives, with 16-month shelf life.
Currently, the company exports to ten countries, among which China, USA, Italy, Cyprus, Lithuania, United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi) and Romania. Exports in Germany are broader, as multipacks (16 bars per pack) are also sold there. Sesamis Natural Bars aim for a commercial “leap” within Greece: this naturally produced product, with big part of the line production being manual and handmade, could be placed on shelves alongside organic products or as an artisanal snack in delicatessen-style shops, as, after all, is already the case in some foreign countries.
