Record exports in peppers and cucumbers

At a record pace, at +34%, cucumber exports are developing in the period between  Sept. 1st 2022 and June 2nd 2023, rising to 65,690 tons, compared to 49,023 tons in the correspondent period 2021/22. Also, tomato exports January 1st 2023 to July 2nd 2023 amounted to 29,076 tons, up 30% from the corresponding period in 2022, while pepper exports are also moving at a record pace: from January 1st 2023 to July 2nd 2023 they reached +22% and 12,566 tons.

Reduction in Strawberry Exports

The decreasing rate in Strawberry exports continued. From the beginning of the year until June 2nd 2023 they amounted to 73,564 tons, increased by 6.2%, while orange exports from 1/9/22 to 2/6/23 amounted to 327,877 tons.

Apples are lower

Apple exports continue at a low rate. From Sept. 1st 2022 to June 2nd 2023 their export amounts to 61,768 tons, against 66,033  tons in the corresponding period last year.

Better export rate in spring fruit

The harvest and export of spring fruits and vegetables, watermelons, melons and other fruits continued at a better pace, with the quantities to date amounting to

  • watermelon: 35.340 tons
    • melon: 679 tons
    • apricot: 3.066 tons
    • peach: 946 tons
    • nectarine: 441 tons
    • cherry: 989 tons

Kiwi: Also moving up

From Sept. 1st 2022 to June 2nd 2023 the cargo announcements registered in MENO for the export and handling of kiwifruit, were 202,489 tons, compared to 195,871 tons in the corresponding period last year. The quantities to the following countries amount as follows:

  • USA: 13.793 tons
  • Spain: 29.050 tons
  • Italy: 20.920 tons
  • Canada: 6.725 tons
  • India: 20.133 tons
  • Israel: 385 tons
